"Lena River Brass" is the first collective, founded by the State Philharmonic of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in 2011, bursted into the republic’s concert life. In 2010 Pavel Vaskovskiy (the orchestra’s conductor) graduated the Military Institute of Conductors in Moscow (specialty – military conductor, rank – lieutenant of the reserve) and Moscow State Humanitarian University on a class of opera-symphonic conducting (class of Professor V. Kudrya). P. Vaskovskiy is a laureate of Russian national competitions, many-time participant of international military festivals and parades of the Victory.
February 15 is a field day for the orchestra and the philharmonic. That day the first rehearsal of the new collective was held, so this day is called «Lena River Brass» birthday. The orchestra’s debut concert took place on March 11, 2011, for students of M. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University in “Sergelyakh Lights” Culture Centre.
Today it can be said with no doubt, that without the philharmonic wind orchestra, (which has the second name – ceremonial) no one republican ceremonies is held: social, corporate or state – the Victory Day celebrating, May Day parade, new soldiers farewell ceremony to army, navigation opening or print press ball.
The orchestra’s repertoire is entirely various and includes works of international classic, foreign and Russian pop music, marches, and also jazz compositions and popular , movies music.
The artists of the orchestra graduated the Higher Music School of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), they are Yakutia’s leading musicians:
Honoured Artist of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), associate professor Aleksandr Kuzmin;
Honoured Artist of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Ivan Sivtsev;
Laureate of international competitions Aleksey Karev;
Laureate of international competitions Taras Serguchyov;
Outstanding Worker of Preofessional Education, Laureate of international competitions Lena Dedyukina.
The soloists hold musical-educating work for children and young generation of the republic, take part in cultural and social life of the region.
In autumn 2012 the orchestra performed concerts in the frames of celebrating 380th Anniversary of Yakutia’s annexation to Russia on the best music scenes in Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Khabarovsk, as well as, a big concert-presentation of Philharmonic’s collectives in the State Academic Capella (Saint-Petersburg) and a performance of Yakutsk presentation on Moscow Bazaar.
In October 2012 in the frames of “Northern Lights” annual festival project-concert of Mariinsky theatre “Mariinsky brass” ensemble with participation of «Lena River Brass» was held.
In June 2013 the wind orchestra of Yakutian Philharmonic took part in 2 festivals of world’s military orchestras in Semur and Albertville (France).
In 2018 «Lena River Brass» got a money certificate from “Anabar’s Diamonds” private limited company in “Best professional collective” nomination in the frames of “Music for Everyone” project’s 5th anniversary.
