YAKUTIA.INFO. Usually on their concerts “Arco ARTico” string ensemble present programs based on genres fusion or crossover, which sometimes make listeners laugh and have fun. The last concert in Roman Catholic Church was absolutely the opposite – held in no joking mood. The location, the program, chosen by the musicians (absolutely new one, by the way), all this did not prepossess any frivolity.
The program was full of the atmosphere of spirituality and coming Christmas, it was especially noticeable when the ensemble performed with the chorus: “Ave Maria” by Caccini and “Stabat Mater” by Pergolesi. These works really sounded solemnly, not just because of works’ character, but maybe also due to some physical factors – the hall’s acoustics really suited such format. It has to be mentioned, that before the concert the chorus performed in Saint-Petersburg Capella and took a master-class from well known conductor Vladislav Chernushenko, so that experience also had its impact on the chorists. Actually, for Arco ARTico Roman Catholic Church is a sacred place not only because it is connected with religion, but also because it was a location of the collective’s first concert some years ago.
Also, Arco ARTico presented “Canon” by Pachelbel and Alegro in c-moll by Tchaikovsky and Christmas song “Silent Night” by Gruber with the chorus. At the end “Sextet for Piano and Strings” by Mendelssohn sounded. This long and complicated work showed all skills of “Arco ARTico”. When it is needed, one can joke or, on the contrary, like on this concert, make everything accurately and delicately. All in all, every genre is within the musicians’ scope of abilities.
