YAKUTIA.INFO. “Eurasia. Dialogue. ClassicInternational Music Festival is being held in Yakutsk. In the frames of it on the base of the Higher Music School “Factory” International Far East Seminar-Forum for young musicians has been conducted. “MolOt” Young Musicians Organization and Russian Music Union organized the seminars.

It is not the first time “MolOt’s” chairman Yaroslav Sudzilovskiy visits Yakutsk. He suggests that the republic can become a centre of music culture in the Far East. To do that, it is necessary for Yakutia to found a composer department in the Higher Music School and “MolOt” will actively help with it. The organization itself unites many Russian regions and some foreign countries. In Russia with a help of these seminars and practice lections the organization tries to create something kind of a modern composer school. By the way music of Sudzilovskiy and some other composers, including Yakutian composer of young generation – Nikolay Mikheev, was represented on the festival’s opening by “Symphonica ARTica” orchestra.

In the interview to “Yakutia.Info” Yaroslav Sudzilovskiy tells about “MolOt”, modern composers, Eurasian music space and modern academic music.

– Such seminars system is held everywhere on the old Soviet Union territory. This seminar program was created to help a young composer to get an education program. The students arrive from 48 different countries, representing their national schools and working together in a “factory”: master-classes, individual lessons, compositions analyses, etc. in general, it is a complex education program, made by me on the base of my experience of attending such seminars and tutorials.

Are there any peculiarities of conducting such seminars here in Yakutsk?

Here anyhow Far East Seminar-Forum is being held and it is very important that the Higher Music School has a very good infrastructure. In addition to this is an only composer forum on this scale in the Far East. We accumulate international composer forces and it is necessary to unite composer cultures, schools and techniques.

You have told that Yakutia can become a composer art centre in the Far East.

Yes. If we cope with creating a composer department, it will be the first union in the Far East. The last conservatory is situated in Novosibirsk. But here there are vast territories losing their professionals. And the reason for all that is documentation process to give Yakutian composers an opportunity to get education here. But they support Yakutian cinematography and now it became a brand. What about “MolOt”, we have lecturers from different countries and we unite all them together. So without leaving Yakutia they can get very important knowledge about the profession.

Can you tell approximately when such a department can be founded?

There is already a creative stuff. All depends on administrative moments and of course it would be pretty good to get everything done as soon as possible.

And what are the difficulties? Lack of money?

I think it is not about money. Perhaps some administrative resource should be activated. Maybe support this idea somehow on a republican level.

About the young composers. How do they create their works? Do they follow some tradition?

We do not have any tradition. Traditions of what? Soviet music? There is no Soviet music anymore. Russian music? Show me a follower of Taneevs traditions for example. No, we already have a very multifaceted music. Young people have a distinct line of own. Maybe it is good when there is such a variety.

Can you name some of the representatives of composers young generation?

Yes, Snezhana Pyslar, Artur Zobnin, Nastasya Khrushcheva, Ivan Abramov, but there are more of them, who could be mentioned, these are those whom I remember at the moment. Everyone of them is unique, but one has to be self-assured and be a fan of his job. As no one made him to be composer, it was his own choice to become a composer.

What about the situation in Europe with modern composers?

They have a distinct line of own as well as Russian ones. There is an idea that everything is better there in Europe. But the situation is complicated there too. In some way we do even better. For instance, conservatism in education has it’s own advantages as in Europe the education system has been changed so much that it cannot be called an education almost at all.

So Yakutia can really become a centre?

Exactly. Yakutia is very interesting itself. Mythology. Some images. It is a very good base for creating a composer department, later it can become a composer school. Not in case when someone got education in Moscow, other in Saint-Petersburg and they arrived back. School is something to be settled, but not nomadic. And this issue is not even about a territory, but about politics.
